TeleMedhin is a digital micro-insurance platform that allows you to purchase affordable health, life, and accident coverage directly through your phone using Telebirr. We partner with Ethio Telecom and major insurance providers to make protection accessible to everyone.
Any Ethiopian resident with an active telebirr account can purchase insurance. Most plans cover ages 18-65, with specific plans like 'Golden Age' designed for seniors up to 80 years old.
You can purchase a plan through the telebirr Super App under 'Mini Apps' — search for TeleMedhin. Payment is deducted instantly from your telebirr wallet. No paperwork required.
Coverage & Claims
Coverage varies by plan. Generally, we cover inpatient medical expenses, accident disability, funeral assistance, and offer a hospital cash benefit. Please check the 'Plans' page for detailed benefits of each package.
Claims can be submitted digitally through the app or by calling our 24/7 helpline 9876. You'll need to provide medical reports and receipts. Approved claims are paid directly to your telebirr wallet within 48 hours.
Accidental coverage starts immediately. For illness-related claims, there is typically a 15-day waiting period from the date of purchase. Funeral benefits have no waiting period.
Payments & Renewal
We offer flexible payment terms. You can choose to pay daily, monthly, or annually. Annual payments often come with a discount.
Yes, you can cancel your policy at any time. If you prepaid annually, you may be eligible for a pro-rated refund for the unused months, subject to terms and conditions.
